OVERVIEW
The Data Engineer will play a crucial role in integrating external data sources into our internal Microsoft SQL Server database. This position requires expertise in ETL/ELT tools such as PowerShell and SSIS, as well as proficiency in leveraging APIs to access and transform raw data. The ideal candidate will be capable of building data pipelines from scratch, creating a process roadmap, and ensuring seamless and secure data integration to support business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT processes to ingest data from external sources into a relational database environment.
- Utilize APIs and other tools to extract, shape, and transform raw data from cloud environments or report files.
- Collaborate with the IT Network Security team to ensure data security and compliance with internal standards.
- Monitor data pipelines to ensure timely and complete data flow into the database.
- Implement systematic checks to validate data accuracy and ensure adequate records are processed according to job schedules.
- Adapt data solutions to accommodate diverse data sources, focusing on delivering immediate and medium-term value to the business rather than a one-size-fits-all solution.
- Proactively communicate data issues, delays, and blockers to the Operations Analytics team.
- Maintain and support existing data integrations, including those built using PowerShell and Outlook.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 3-5 years of experience in a data engineering role.
- Advanced knowledge of data warehousing, data modeling, and ETL/ELT processes.
- Proven ability to design and build robust data pipelines.
- Expertise in SQL with the ability to write complex queries and optimize database performance.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting.
- Strong understanding of data stewardship and governance practices.
- Demonstrated ability to validate logic and troubleshoot issues with minimal oversight or technical documentation.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, including the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related analytical field (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics) or equivalent experience
