HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
The Director, Software Development directs Application/Software development for the company and provides technical leadership for a number of business applications in support of one or more business units. This position directs the establishment and maintenance of consistent procedures, metrics and development methodologies. Routinely interfaces with the Company’s senior business leaders and other senior members of the information technology team. Duties include managing and developing staff, capacity planning, fiscal accountability and process engineering. This position is considered essential to operations and will be required to be available during an emergency. Additionally, the associate filling this position will be required to maintain an on-call status.
EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS JOB
Direct the software release process with the goal of delivering software releases on time, on budget, with high quality and according to agreed-upon scope.
Develop resourcing strategies for the ongoing development and maintenance of multiple software products.
Establish and maintain consistent procedures, metrics and development approaches in accordance with guidelines.
Evaluate impact of business and technology trends on strategic direction of assigned products.
Successfully translate corporate objectives into team and individual goals.
Direct day-to-day activities of development teams.
Ensures high quality in developed applications through documentation (test cases), client communication (UAT testing), and management of QA processes.
Provide ongoing direction and mentoring to development team members.
Provide expertise in development methodologies.
Collaborates with other technology managers, senior management and extended staff on project status and related project information.
Ensures appropriate resources are identified, hired, and retained.
Other Duties and responsibilities as assigned by the SVP Information Technology.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, software engineering or related field is required. Master’s degree preferred.
Ten (10) or more years’ experience leading development teams.
Five (5) or more years’ experience in software development within the Mortgage Industry including Mortgage Originations systems.
Experience with measurement and improvement of software quality.
Experience in managing cross functional teams of development resources.
Hands-on Development and Architecture Experience in Microsoft .NET, C# / ASP.NET, Visual Studio, MS SQL, Web Services.
Demonstrated project planning, estimation and release management ability.
Proven ability to plan and manage large-scale, long-duration software development projects.
Experience with Agile methodologies, preferably Scrum.
Demonstrated ability to implement a software development life cycle (SDLC) that matches Covius guidelines.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact across the organization.
Solid leadership skills with the ability to influence others.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical personnel.
Ability to express ideas effectively in both verbal and written formats.
