Who Else Can Feed 100,000 People?
Colorado is home to a lot of great non-profits, and we do our part to support many of them. Throughout our 14 years in business, there is one charity that stands out and just might be our favorite.
Food Bank of the Rockies helps families survive by procuring and distributing food to the hungry. It’s a simple but important mission, especially in recent months as they deliver food to vulnerable populations. To understand the positive impact this charity makes, just look at the stats. Since mid-March, they’ve:
- Served over 100,000 people
- Distributed 2.5 million pounds of food (a 90% increase over normal operations)
- Raised $9 million toward their projected need of $16 million for the first six months of their COVID response
These are heartwarming numbers because they show the real difference Food Bank of the Rockies is making for those in need. In fact, 30% of the people they served since March have never needed food assistance before. It’s clear that this is an important time to help each other out, and Food Bank of the Rockies gives us all an easy opportunity to impact our local community. That’s why we are so happy that we were able to donate over $1,000 to this organization as a result of our recent steps challenge. That donation was enough to provide 4,100 meals. As good as that feels, we know that there’s a lot more work left to be done.
With supplies down by 33% and food costs up by 40%, Food Bank of the Rockies needs continued support to keep making their mission a reality. Whether you donate your money, time, or voice, there are many ways to help this wonderful cause.
