In a recent post from Inside Tech, Monster’s new website dedicated to IT professionals and their career search, Denver is listed as number 8 for cities in America who are poised for growth based on a number of statistics from several key growth analysts. The cities were chosen based on either directly singled out by positive economic reports or were cities whose profile fit the top growth indicators. Low unemployment index, higher-education graduates, companies with hot technologies, and stable job markets were the most important ones. Denver’s sublte tech market is also a big reason for the ranking.
Denver has a fairly stable tech market with a variety of IT, Biomedical, and new Green tech companies that all have indicated plans to hire this year. The main tech talent that will be needed here are website and database developers and network engineers. Other top areas in growth mode are in social media, cable/satellite TV/telecommunications, energy, health care, cloud computing, and government. Education, government, and health sectors saw minor job growths in the last year and are expected to be among the first to benefit from an improved economy.
This holds very true to the market that we are currently experiencing from our local clients. We have seen a huge increase in system and network support, healthcare has remained steady throughout the past year (and continues to remain one of the recession-resistant industries), and obviously Social Media is the next big hurdle, as companies are starting to take the cloud platform for a ride. Anything-as-a-Service is another trend that is starting to gain popularity as well. With many similar advantages to cloud computing, the SaaS model has really made a place for itself in this time of saving money and gaining efficiency. Denver’s market has several young and stable companies that are playing in the space, and are doing really well; including several of our current clients.
Here are some further stats to make that case for good ole Denver as one of the hot spots in the country right now.
